GW Engineering Alumna Christine Darden Honored with Congressional Gold Medal

In the article “NASA’s ‘Hidden Figures’ women awarded Congressional Gold Medal,” Collect Space detailed the ceremony on September 18 at which the women who contributed to the space race, including GW Engineering and Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering alumna Christine Darden, Ph.D. ‘83, received their Congressional Gold Medal awards. 

Here is an excerpt from the article: “Darden, who today is 82, became an engineer at NASA 16 years after Jackson, wrote over 50 articles on aeronautics design and was the first African American of any gender to be promoted into the Senior Executive Services at Langley.”
