Prior to joining GW in 2008, Professor Yongsheng Leng was a postdoctoral research associate with Professor Shaoyi Jiang at the University of Washington in Seattle (1999 – 2001), a senior research associate with Professor Peter T. Cummings at Vanderbilt University (2002 – 2005), and a research assistant professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Vanderbilt University (2006 – 2008). His research interests evolve from the original contact mechanics and tribology to the more fundamental problems in the surface and interfacial science, including liquid structure and properties under nanoconfinement, molecular simulations of chemical bonding at organo-metallic interface, and nanoscale mechanics in surface force balance (SFB) experiments, atomic force microscopy (AFM) and molecular electronics devices.
