Professor Kartik V. Bulusu conducts cross-disciplinary and experimental research centered on two key areas: the biological fluid dynamics and ubiquitous computing. His work delves into biofluid dynamics within the cardiovascular system and energy technologies, employing both experimental and theoretical fluid mechanics, laser diagnostics, and wavelet transformation techniques. Furthermore, he works on ubiquitous computing through the Internet of Things (IoT) and deep learning.
In the classroom, he teaches hands-on first-year engineering courses focused on single-board computers, Python programming, and fluid dynamics. He also offers graduate-level courses in IoT and linear algebra.
He plays an active role in various professional organizations. He is the Chair of the Education and Outreach Committee at the American Physical Society (APS) Division of Fluid Dynamics for the term 2025-2026, the Director of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Northern Virginia section, and the Vice Chair of the Society for Social Implications of Technology chapter for the term 2025-2027.
