Dr. Megan Leftwich is the sole PI on a recently awarded NSF grant for her project “Bio-inspired efficient pulsatile locomotion.” The three-year, $288,377 grant will support research into the fluid dynamics of sea lion locomotion. Prof. Leftwich’s team will investigate the three-dimensional kinematics of free swimming sea lions, while simultaneously using robotic platforms to investigate the details of the resulting flowfields.
