Charles Fort

Assistant Research Professor

Dr. Charles Fort is an experimental fluid dynamicist whose research focuses on wall-bounded turbulence and the development of compact, nonintrusive optical diagnostics for complex flow environments. His work bridges fundamental turbulence physics and applied fluid mechanics, with applications ranging from naval hydrodynamics and aerospace engineering to biomedical and microfluidic systems.

He develops and deploys advanced imaging techniques such as Molecular Tagging Velocimetry (MTV) and single-camera Lagrangian Particle Tracking (LPT) to measure flow dynamics at the smallest turbulent scales. His research emphasizes portable, in-situ measurement systems and combines expertise in optics, computational imaging, experimental design, and data analysis to enable high-resolution measurements in challenging experimental environments.
