Professor Panah is passionate about fluid mechanics and is fascinated by the mechanics of flying birds and swimming fish. Her research focuses on the unsteady aerodynamics of flapping wings. She enjoys exploring intriguing questions, especially if she can inspire her students to sleuth around and wonder with her.

Professor Panah has taught undergraduate courses in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and turbomachinery. She also has developed a unique course on the art and science of flow visualization, to understand its impact on visual perception and educational outcomes.

Furthermore, Professor Panah serves as the Coordinator of the Gallery of Fluid Motion (GFM) at the American Physical Society’s Division of Fluid Dynamics (APS-DFD). In this role, she contributes to the fluid dynamics community with dedication, passion, and commitment.
